Are You A Murderer?

Are you a murderer? If you die this moment, will you have committed homicide to the highest degree on your very own dreams and underutilized gifts? Decide today to give life.

Are you a murderer pic 1

A few weeks ago I read an article that detailed the Top 5 Regrets of the Dying. The number 1 regret was Living a life that was expected of them as opposed to the one they wanted to live. There is a simple formula to live by design. I will clearly detail the instructions.

There is nothing to fear, but fear itself. –Franklin D. Roosevelt

Regrets are fear manifested in its most tangible form.  The great news is that if you are able to read this, you still have time to live the life you desire.

Are you a murderer pic 2 commitment

Make a commitment. What do you want: Romantic love, A firmer bum, To make more money, Meaningful friendships or Better sex?  It is available to you, but you must commit. Tony Robbins says, “There is no abiding success without commitment.”  I believe in the laws of attraction but I do not believe they work with positive affirmations alone. While my explanation may defy the rules of the use of prefixes, Action is the root word for attraction. You must commit to the goal, but most of all you must commit to take action.

Paulo Coehlo in the Alchemist said, “And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” Santiago made a commitment to find a hidden treasure located near the pyramids in Egypt and set out to do it. He was alone, had no money, and was chasing a dream, but what he had in his favor was determination. That was all he needed. The comedian, Steve Martin is thankful that, “…persistence is a great substitute for talent.”

Write it down. Committing it to paper makes it concrete. Goal: Firmer Bum in 90 days. You don’t have to know a thing about achieving a firmer bum. A simple Google search can be your best friend. In a fraction of a second, I came up with almost 500,000 results including articles, videos, tips and infographics. If you can find a goal buddy, that’s even better. Success loves company. A goal buddy or support group can help to gently hold you accountable. If this is not available to you, set alerts on your phone to keep you on track with the daily steps of goal attainment

Take the first step. Inch by inch, it’s a cinch. Create a to do list to break down the larger task at hand. From 10 minutes of research, I found 3 consistent things that I must do in order to give life to this dream:  1.Make some changes to my diet 2.Exercise 3.Make time. “Time, once spent can never be replaced.” –Ben Franklin. Get up 15 minutes earlier, cut back on TV or social media. Reframe your sacrificial thinking. You are opening an opportunity in your time to literally save your butt.

Are you a murderer pic 3 fal and get up

If you fall, get back up. We have all committed to do something only to have stopped short of the finish line so start with something small and get comfortable with success. I started a 21 day meditation with Deepak Chopra and Oprah. I committed to take 15 minutes out of each morning for 21 days. I completed it. It took 25 days, but I did it. I made a commitment, stuck with it and saw results. If you are not perfect, be gentle with yourself, get back up and start where you left off.

Reward yourself for achieving your goal. This is the fun part. Be certain the reward is something that you will see frequently to remind you of your accomplishment. Buy a scarf or candle. Frame the piece you have been putting off. Paint an accent wall in your room.

Reality is that I am mortal as death is unavoidable. Today, I formally commit to become a proficient snowboarder, finish my drawing, “The Embrace” and learn to play “Walk This Way” on the guitar in 90 days. I refuse to die a murderer.

3 Reasons Why Increasing Customer Engagement is Key

3 big reasons increase blog customer engagement customer service

Three Reasons to Increase Customer Engagement

Customer Engagement is important for business growth. Businesses can use social media tools for increasing customer engagement which creates a community environment thus maximizing sales. It is significant on several counts. Customer engagement is a meaningful exercise, one that is essential for the company, so that they can drive up the revenue. Companies need to listen to customers who are engaging in conversations about their product. They need to jump into such conversations and foster relationships with their interaction. They can solve customer problems, answer questions and support customers whenever possible, in order to facilitate a dynamic online community.

Increasing Sales

The members of the community in social media sites can contribute to more than fifty percent of your total sales, when compared to non-community members. When you allow customer engagement through sites, the operation costs of such interaction is very little. In other words, you remove the need for additional customer managers or reps, since limited personnel can handle the online engagement, post answers to queries and interact with the customer in real time.

3 big reasons increase blog brand-customer-engagement

Increasing Brand Awareness and Loyalty

By allowing customer engagement with your company, the brand loyalty is increased. Companies that have an online presence in most of the social sites and engage with clients in these platforms find that the customers remain with them more than in case of non community customers. The organization’s image is also enhanced and with a small amount of due diligence, influential internet users can be targeted. When your company launches a new product, you can increase customer awareness with such engagement.

The Best Market Research

The social network can be used for getting feedback on the product. The company can take advantage of knowledge of customers and increase market awareness, getting more ideas of future needs, products or services. By interacting with your niche audience and posting regular updates, your company will be increasingly viewed as more “user friendly”, with every query being answered right away. This will increase your brand loyalty and result in you netting more customers as the web users start to post reviews about your company, online presence, products and services, etc.

Engaging Customers in Real Time

By creating a customer engagement community, the company can respond to the problems of the customers in real time through discussions and comments. They can also use other methods of responding to them immediately by means of chats, blogs and RSS feeds or through comments and polling. Any good marketing manager knows the importance of attending to customer issues immediately. With social media platforms, companies can now attend to all client related issues in real time. Some of the top companies even host dedicated user pages on their social accounts, allowing them to keep track of their niche audience, issues they raise and resolve it without inconveniencing the user. This is why it makes sense to increase customer engagement.

Get out there and get social.

Talk To Yourself. You May be Crazy if You Don’t.

As a kid, I had learned, somewhere, somehow that people who talked to themselves were crazy. Fact; I had an aunt that talked to herself from time to time. She didn’t outright speak, she would say things, at an almost inaudible level, which would make you question whether she had said anything at all. I asked my mom if she was crazy and my mother said, “Does she answer herself”? I responded, “No but, at times she does giggle.” To which my mom replied, “Then, it seems as if she is just…happy.”

Genetics are powerful and not easily broken. Each morning I talk to myself; “Shalece, with your smart, beautiful, loving, compassionate and artistic self, what are you grateful for at this very moment?” Then I go on to answer myself, at length. I even giggle- honestly, sometimes I burst out in laughter. Why? Because when I think of all the ways that I am blessed, I can’t help but to be overcome with joy. Since good feelings attract more things to feel good about, I try to do this as often as I can throughout the day. I am doing as my mother said and, “Making myself happy.”

My Affliction:  Delayed Unlearning

For some unknown reason, unlearning doesn’t come easy for me. Specifically, my subconscious seems to be distracted by shiny objects and blinking lights at the hint of me consciously going in a different direction than I was previously programmed.

That said, all my life I have attempted to unlearn conditioned thoughts and ideas that I understand are only culturally or contextually correct. Those things were inculcated into my financial, parental and relationship blueprints. Quotes, motivational books, songs and movies that I watch resonate in my mind years afterward and yet, some of those behaviors remained unchanged. Until I had an epiphany.

When I was a child, talking to yourself meant you were “not all there.” As an adult, I have come to realize that if you fail to talk to yourself, and do it often, you just may go crazy. See, my aunt knew something I didn’t. You control your own happiness. What others think of you doesn’t matter. If you can make yourself feel good, at no one else’s expense, by all means do it. Don’t leave your opportunities to bliss on the table. Be happy now. Just the way you are. Back to the point.

Talk to yourself hatTalking to Yourself

Talking to yourself is much more important than speaking to others because what you say to others will depend directly upon the conversations you have been having with yourself. We tend to project.

The hat pictured above is an invention made by Kaye Hartman that gave a Ted Talk. She asserts that talking to yourself is so important that this device was created to help you tune in to what you have to say without the interruption of others.

The best conversations I have ever had with others stemmed from those I first held with myself and usually started with these four questions:

Is what I’m about to say kind? It is true? Is it necessary? Does it improve upon the silence?

Sometimes we need to whisper to ourselves to remind us what not to say. Sometimes we need to make ourselves feel good. Speak positivity, love and light to yourself and that’s what we will receive from others. Go ahead, talk to yourself. With no shame. It’s what will likely keep us away from depression, loneliness and insanity.

5 Things that can Ruin Your Social Media Campaign – Part 2

ruin social media 2When it comes to social media, it is common knowledge that not pursuing your social media campaign actively or being unresponsive to users’ comments is a sure fire method to bring the whole campaign to a halt. Moreover, feedback from people on social networking sites have given a glimpse into a few more factors which can actually end up ruining your social media marketing. Here’s a list of five more things that can ruin your social media campaign.

Relentless Updates

While making scanty updates is bad, tweeting or putting up messages too frequently is equally harmful for your social media campaign. People who are already following you get put off with your endless tweets and updates (3x/hour) in their news feed that they decide to get rid of you for good. You may want to rethink the whole “engage continuously” approach, try it with some moderation so that your users get updates regularly but not in the manner of breaking news.

Two rules of thumb is Tweet 12-20x/day and update your FB 2x/day. If you are providing substantial information, you may want to lean towards updating less frequently whereas if you are providing motivation and inspiration, you can update more often. The most important factor is to learn your audience. What are you doing that evokes the most involvement? Do more of that.

Before you brush this off casually assuming you’re completely ethical in your ways, it is important to know what spamming could constitute as far as social media is concerned. Popular suggestions that may hint towards your product are harmless promotions. Offering discounts, coupons and flooding your users’ feed with sale offers in your tweets is essentially spam. Nobody likes spam. To stay away from things that can ruin your social media campaign, provide your following with useful information.

Lacking Authenticity

Who are you? Develop your voice as part of your social media strategy. Once you decide, stick with it. Keep your message consistent. Whatever you choose to communicate needs to be information that your following can benefit from. Allow that information to come from a place of transparency into your brand and what your company stands for.

Irrelevant Content

While social media marketing does not involve direct sales pitch all the time, your content should correspond reasonably with your product or brand. For instance, if your product is about herbal soap, try campaigning about the health benefits of the herbs which are included in your product.

80% of the time, you do not want to make a direct reference to your product. Simply provide useful information. The other 20% should be used to let your audience know that you happen to have a product that provides the very benefit that you previously educated them about.

Talking about popular topics without connecting them in some facet to you can ruin your social media campaign. Controversial topics should follow the same rules. In fact when done properly can generate user participation and lead traffic directly to you.

Several surveys have narrowed down the peak usage timings by audiences for various social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. For instance Facebook generates maximum customer engagement on Tuesdays, Twitter between 5-8 a.m. and YouTube on Mondays. Time your updates and tweets to correspond with these timings so that you get maximum user engagement.

Make sure that you keep a close tab of the latest fads going around in social media so that you make the most out of it before it becomes a hopeless cliché. There is a lot more to successful social media marketing, but these points should help avoid ruining your social media campaign.

It makes you widely known, popular and attracts prospective customers. While advertising on the TV, Radio or sponsoring international events may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there are a few ways -through the internet mostly- which can generate you great publicity, within a short period of time.

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are the most sought after websites by businesses as they give you the opportunity to interact with a wide range of prospective customers. It’s relatively easy and it’s free. Make sure your updates are catchy and bold.  Sometimes a little controversy goes a long way. Dr. Oz almost created anarchy over apple juice a couple years ago. He gained unheard of publicity over this topic which led to spinoff interviews over his custom made scrubs. Make a creative and provoking video which connects back to you and you might even watch it go viral.

Free publicity

Press Releases

Press releases are probably the best way to tell a wide range of audience about who you are and what you do in the most concise and accurate way possible. Write out a press release statement about your product tagging along your latest innovations, events and upcoming holidays and why they absolutely can’t go another day without it your product. Send it over to your local radio, newspaper and magazine. Submit your press release for free through PR Log. Make it a point to network with your local media. They are always on the lookout for interesting fillers and expert advice. This will help you pitch your product and is yet another easy way to get free publicity. That is why the ability to Gab is a gift.

Product Placement

Your perfume could become the one Brad Pitt is spraying on himself in his latest movie. This kind of publicity, called product placement, catapults you into instant fame. Movie and TV program directors are often on the lookout for specific products to use in their productions. Several sites let you pitch your product to them so that you may earn this elite place. Answer questions based on your expertise about your product at several Q&A sites such as Quora, Yahoo Answers and Linked in Groups. Provide valuable information and people will find you. Plus, search engines love content. The more you create, the better chance you have to get found.

Spread the Word

You may be surprised to learn how well this old fashioned method works. If you spread the word about your product amongst your friends and family and persuade them to interact with people about it, you get free advertising, if not really out of your product’s efficacy then out of pure goodwill. Your loved ones seldom let you down. Amway is one of the best examples of such networking. Speaking confidently about your product is an extremely easy way to get free publicity.

Press Kits

Press kits aren’t to be confused with press releases. Press kits comprise of a demo version of your product offered for trial to select audience comprising of popular reviewers, writers and journalists along with promotional videos and content. Once you distribute it, people will do your work for you. Offer them a Skype interview which they can include in their review article as a video.

Participate in Public Events

Is there a local marathon in your city? Go ahead and participate in it, either as representative runners wearing your company logo, volunteers helping manage the event or by distributing water bottles, snacks and freebies to the runners. Contribute to national and local events as much as you can. Remember that these events are covered by all the leading news channels.

These are 7 easy ways to get free publicity but, you should always search for new and better ways. Enroll yourself in public forums, promotional websites and keeping in touch with local news agencies. The very best way to stay in the know about free publicity is to talk to those that are doing what you want to do.

How to Market on a Tight Budget

Almost all small businesses aim for large scale marketing within small budgets. TV and Radio is monopolized by the big corporates, to the extent that marketing through expensive sources become a useless pursuit. Research shows that audience has to typically see a promo about a product at least seven times before they opt to purchase anything – chalk it up to conversion ratio. Costlier marketing strategies therefore prove ineffective if you cannot advertise more than once.

Fortunately, the smaller options are not that bad. In fact, many cheaper marketing options, thanks to the internet, are so lucrative that you don’t need to cough up the big bucks for effective marketing. Here are the best ways to market within a tight budget.

Social Media

Social media marketing is mostly free! The kind of reach some online businesses have obtained by using Facebook and Twitter in the right way surpasses what many companies have gotten with TV ads. This is because people would rather change the TV channel during commercials, but on social networking sites, if the product appears in their feed, they see it at least once.

Some companies have launched their advertisements on YouTube alone and have received viral responses. Cisco Launched entirely through social media and spent 1/6th the amount of a normal product launch garnering a huge response.

blog marketing on a tight budget image

Ford launched the new Fiesta in 2010 using social media and received over 4.8 million views of agents’ YouTube videos, over 600,000 views of their Flickr photos and over 3.2 million impressions on Twitter.

These examples prove how a well thought out social media strategy can give you the biggest bang for your buck and can be cost free.

Good Old Fashioned Networking

Obviously this activity first requires identifying who your target audience is. If you have a fashion wear store, you would want to specifically target people between 18-30 years of age, especially women. You could set up offers and give out coupons to this audience at movie theaters, shopping malls etc. If you have a more elite service, you can send out personal letters addressed to a select group. This way you are more likely to get a dedicated customer base. Send e-mails to people you know and ask them to forward your information on.

At the crux of social media is being social. Posts on FB that contain photos get a higher Edgerank and are more likely to show up in your friends’ feeds. Posts that contain photos of you doing something that your “following” can relate to is almost always going to garner more engagement, comments, and shares than a simple post. People want to know who we are and what we are like outside of our professional personas hence, reality TV proliferation.

Get social. While attending the annual galas, fundraisers and working in your community, tell the people that you meet about what you are doing and what action you would like them to take to support you.  Now, leverage that interaction by snapping photos and posting about interesting people, and conversations. You have just made it nearly impossible to pass your post without them getting engaged.

Collaborate with other small businesses and give complementary offers to your customers. For instance, if someone buys from you, they can avail a discount with the other store. One example is a clothing boutique and shoe store. When a customer of the boutique makes a purchase, they could receive a coupon for a 10% discount from the shoe store.

Existing Customers

Testimonials. Ask your loyal customers to provide testimonials and reviews for your product which can be featured on your site, in your brochures and on social media platforms. Hold contests for those that  they can spread a good word about you and help you promote your activity with their friends on social media sites.

Write blogs, answer questions and put up messages on online forums about your product, services and anything associated with your business. Guest blog for influencers or up and coming influencers to get exposure. Publish “Tips lists. They are the hottest thing in the market which will lead interested customers to your product. A cosmetics company can give out ’10 tips to maintain a healthy skin’.

The main thing you can do when marketing on a tight budget is put yourself out there. Make a goal to call 5 write 5 influencers a week to guest blog on their sites. Schedule 2 events to attend per week. Put your blog on a consistent schedule- search engines love fresh new content. Start researching businesses to form alliances with. Make a point to explore 3 businesses a day to see where you may overlap. Most importantly, shower your social platforms with attention.

How to Activate Attraction Marketing

What Is Attraction Marketing And How To Activate It?

Are you aware of the importance of marketing? It is the soul of business and with the help of the right set of marketing activities, you can be hopeful of striking the right business success that you have envisioned.

Attraction Marketing blog

The Ideals of Attraction Marketing

Attraction marketing refers to the form of marketing wherein you attract people to your business or network rather than choosing them. Alternately, it also refers to a form of marketing or business in which you explain to others what you have been doing and thereby promote your own business.

This form of marketing comes in handy for affiliate marketers and those who need to have a sound social media presence.

How Can You Start Attraction Marketing?

There are a lot of different platforms that are linked to attraction marketing. If you are an affiliate marketer and you are looking to sell products and services, you need to first build your blog and at the same time, work on the extent of social media presence you have.

Some platforms may be paid platforms and you need to spend a little money in order to get started. One of the keys to attraction marketing is to have a proper sales pitch. An enticing sales pitch can make your readers interested and it will help you in taking your business to the next level.

Can Attraction Marketing Help Even Non Affiliate Marketers?

Yes, even if you are not into affiliate marketing, you can benefit from attraction marketing.  When you are starting your new business venture and you want more and more people to be interested to work with you, you can carry out attraction marketing.

It is a common mentality among people not to choose things that are forced upon them. However, if you popularize the concepts and make the entire idea look enticing and appealing, it will help you in attracting customers and this can be a major boost for your business. For example, leading with a sales pitch will get you shut down fast – the only way to engage with your audience is to list what you bring to the table and what they stand to benefit from it. There are quite a few companies engaged in attraction marketing, and leading the list of top corporates happens to be Amway, generating about $10 billion/year.

Activating attraction marketing requires an efficient plan, financial investment and a desire to grow. Once you are aware of the details, you can set your network and let it grow. When you are exploring all these ideals, you will find the difference it can bring to your business.

Marketing is dynamic and it changes patterns every day. However, right now, it is attraction marketing that looks to be one of the trending forms.

There are businessmen who have tapped the limitless potential in this form of marketing and they have made it big.

By teaching the exact ways that have helped you climb to the top, you can capture the attention of your audience and this in turn can help you in improving your business output too.

5 Things That Can Ruin Your Social Media Campaign – Part 1

To avoid things that can ruin your social media campaign thoroughly think through your approach. It must include some cocktail party etiquette. Being a wallflower can lead to major pitfalls and cause your social media campaign to hit the “flat” note, even before you have started. Five points have been listed. Review them to get an initial grasp of marketing through social media sites.

1.       Not Responding To Feedback

It is extremely crucial to take the feedback in the right spirit. Your social media campaign can attract both positive and negative responses. You or the social media savvy person you appoint must monitor your social media platforms closely. Respond in a timely manner to all feedback especially when it is negative. Whenever possible, offer to take the discussion off line through private email or a call. Usually these customers become your best advocates. Handle them with kid gloves.

2.       Failing To Engage Your Audience

Failing to engage your audience is going to lead to one short sighted campaign; you may as well put up a static page, list a fire sale and go out on a wing and a prayer. The key to success in a social media campaign lies in interaction. If your audience is not interacting and your campaigns remain devoid of comment, votes and responses; it is not going to be of any help. You need to come up with ways and methods that will engage your target audience and keep them engrossed on your campaigns. Ask questions. Post engaging and interesting photos that compel your audience to comment. Remember, practice makes perfect so try different things until you get the level of interaction that you desire.

3.       Being Rash And Impatient

Social media campaigns can take a while to transform those clicks to an actual audience base. This is the main cause of failure. Social media campaigns rarely crank up results right away – so do not lose hope. You need to be patient in the way you deal with your social media campaign and willing to try different things. Implement the best strategies over and over again as they are bound to show results over a period of time.

4.       Not Being Active Consistently

No social media campaign will work, if you tend to be absent for long periods. It is important to stay active and keep the traffic afloat. If you intend to stay active only for intermittent intervals with frequent gaps, it is not going to help your case. You can either hire people to work for your campaign or if you are rolling solos, carve out a time management plan so that you are consistently engaging your target audience regularly.

5.       Disregarding Search Engines

You cannot by any means undermine the huge importance that search engine optimization has on your social media campaign. If you implement the best SEO strategies, it will ensure that you will be able to get large amounts of traffic from leading search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. This in turn will leverage your social media campaign and its success.

If you avoid these 5 things that can ruin your social media campaign, the odds of running a successful social media campaign will increase significantly.

The LUCAS Method. -L- Learn, the First Step.

I have created the LUCAS method. It consists of five easy steps that will transform a traditional lengthy 30 page marketing plan (excluding appendices) into an easy non-intimidating yet, scalable social selling guide. The steps are Learn, Understand, Communicate, Authenticate and Socialize.

The first step is Learn. Audit the Current Marketing strategy. If you have a plan or have had one at some point during the life of your business, refer to it. Use a fine tooth comb and make a list for easy viewing and because colorful charts are so much fun! If you have never had a marketing plan or are a start-up, rip your marketing ideas out of your head and commit them to paper; preferably using a shiny chart similar to the one below. If the need fits, rephrase it for the future tense i.e. What will Produce the best results, What could be ineffective, how do we capitalize on the opportunities?

table for L blog

The far left column represents your current marketing efforts. List everything you are doing or plan to do to market your products.

The top row provides a simple way to audit those efforts.

Producing Results: Which parts of your marketing efforts are producing good results for your products? If your social media marketing consists of Facebook and Twitter, which is working, short blurb on how you can tell and next;

What is Ineffective: Write down which social media efforts are ineffective.

Opportunities for Improvement: There is always room for improvement. What opportunities do you have to improve your ineffective strategy? If all of your methods are effective, what more can you do to improve the Marketing Effort itself? Write it there.

This short chart answers the three questions that the Learn phase of the LUCAS Method is founded on:

1)      What are you currently doing

2)      What is working

3)      What opportunities are there for improvement

Typically, you can complete this step in 20 minutes or less. With The LUCAS Method, the initial assessment is meant to help you get going quickly. A “Social Selling Strategy” is a living document and should not be intimidating. Once the fear or trepidation dissipates, your creative juices will feel safe to start flowing. In all we do, inventory must be taken to figure out where we are and what resources we have before beginning…anything.

Stop what you are doing and take 20 minutes to Learn about your business with the first step of The LUCAS Method.

dedication: A large amount of time and effort that someone spends on something.

Your level of success is directly connected to your level of dedication. What have you chosen to dedicate yourself to; your children, spouse, health, higher power, career? Most of us dedicate ourselves to each of these things in some facet.

Succeed breathe

This quote rings in my ears every day of my life. It reminds me that every breath I take should be taken with a purpose. The purpose should be towards my ultimate goals for how I define success.

Sometimes circumstances give you the need to redefine your future. Do it. Don’t delay. Redefine and rededicate yourself to it.

Lists are awesome. Create a To Do list every evening based on a regular routine. Here is part of mine:

Listen to Audio Book

Those things are not negotiable. The remainder of the list is based on what else I need to accomplish for the day.

Dedication takes practice. If at first you don’t succeed, try try again. Be flexible. Don’t beat yourself up so you will not attract negative energy to your efforts. Count your accomplishments and learn from your failures then progress. Do not dwell on the fact that you didn’t get something done in the exact time that you intended. Instead figure out the impediment, remove it and try again. This time, more intelligently.

Let motivation be your muse. Whatever gets your mojo going, have it nearby for those times when you feel like stopping. Take a break to recharge. Create a soft time limit on how long you will take your break. Once you are recharged, begin again with renewed vigor.

Why are you willing to dedicate yourself to this journey? Keep a reminder in the forefront of your mind. Never forget it. This is the core of why you need to remain dedicated.

When all else fails, remember the story of the tortoise and the hare. You do not need to be the brightest, fastest or strongest. Dedication takes the place of it. Persist, persist, persist and when in doubt, keep going.
